Amla is considered one of the essential herbs of Ayurveda, celebrated on holy days and intimately tied with cultural traditions, it is said to have originated from the drops of Amrit which spilled on earth accidentally, due to a fight between Gods and Demons. Amla is believed to cure almost every disease and promote a long life.

Amla contains a large amount of vitamin C and a number of polyphenol flavonoids, including some unique to amla and relatives themselves. Amla contains ellagitannins, such as emblicanin A, emblicanin B, punigluconin and pedunculagin. It also contains punicafolin and phyllanemblinin A, phyllanemblin other polyphenols: flavonoids, kaempferol, ellagic acid and gallic acid.

Can be eaten directly or used as an ingredient in herbal teas. The berry can also easily be powdered and used as an ingredient in superfood blends.

1-2 tsp per serving for general health purposes, higher doses may be used for a stronger therapeutic effect.
