Betaine powder (Trimethylglycine)

  • Product Type: Supplements

Also known as
Betaine, TMG, Trimethylglycine

Betaine is an amino acid derivative, human metabolite of Choline, and a component of beetroot, from where it derives its name. Betaine serves a vital role of being a prime methyl donor in the body, assisting in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and their metabolites. Methylation is required for the biosynthesis of melatonin, coenzyme Q10, and numerous other vital compounds, and is partially responsible for the detoxification and removal of waste products from the body.

Supplement data
Origin: China

Recommended amount per dose is 2000-6000 mg per day, or 4-12 size '00' capsule.

Betaine is in essence a complex of the nutrient choline attached to three methyl groups, bound to glycine, an amino acid. Because of this unique arrangement, Betaine conveys benefits to all three pathways, providing the body with adequate methyl groups thus increasing the rate of SAMe synthesis, neurotransmitter turnover, and general detoxification. Betaine also reduces the levels of homocysteine in the body, protecting against the toxicity that can develop from heightened levels of this amino acid metabolite Betaine also promotes cell hydration similar to creatine, increasing muscle energy expenditure, providing us with ample evidence why beets were once considered the food of soldiers and warriors.

Do not consume without knowing an accurate dosage. A milligram scale is highly recommended.
