Echinacea is a well known plant that grows native in much of the middle United States & Canada. Its main use is that of an immune system stimulating tonic with muscle relaxing qualities.
Roots or leaf
Brew 1-3 grams in tea as a daily tonic for immune system support. Mix with honey & drink larger amount (3-9 grams) if recovering from a bout of illness.
Echinacea is a classic tonic for health & well-being and has been shown to stimulate the immune system through the endo-cannabinoid receptors, cb1 & cb2. Echinacea also shows action as a muscle relaxer in addition to being a well rounded tonic. Echinacea purpurea is believed to be the weaker of the two species, but still provides a therapeutic effect. Purpurea serves better as a daily tonic because of its milder actions & is better at balancing the immune system than simply stimulating it.
