Also known as Erythroxylum Catuaba, Trichilia catigua, Big catuaba Introduction Catuaba is the name given to a number of plants found in South America often used for their energizing and libido enhancing qualities. In Brazilian herbal medicine, Catuaba bark is considered a central nervous system stimulant with aphrodisiac properties, and is used to promote sexual health, serenity, comfort, and memory. As there are multiple plants referred to as Catuaba, different Catuabas may have a different or even unnoticeable effect. We carry Trichilia catigua because it is the most potent Catuaba species we have encountered. Constituents Phenylpropanoid-substituted epicatechins, namely catiguanin A and catiguanin B, cinchonain Ia, cinchonain Ib , cinchonain Ic, and cinchonain Id Harvest Data Origin: Brazil Wildharvested Shredded and Powdered Bark Use Mild central nervous system stimulant and aphrodisiac. Recommended 2-5 grams boiled for 3-5 minutes, repeated cups can be made without losing much kick! Summary Laboratory experiments with Catuaba have shown that the herb causes an increased release of serotonin and to a larger extent dopamine, while inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine into the synapse. This may explain Catuaba's uplifting and stimulating effects which lend themselves quite nicely with it's blood flowing properties. In Brazil, Catuaba is frequently mixed with Muira Puama and other herbs into mentally and physically stimulating cocktails. Catuaba is an uplifting plant ally that provides energy and increases ones sex drive.
