Also known as
Siberian ginseng, Eleutherococcus senticosus
Eleuthero, also known as Siberian ginseng is a close relative of the true Panax ginseng, belonging to the same family but of a different genus. Eleuthero has been claimed to have similar effects as Panax ginseng, touted as an adaptogen, and shows promise in increasing energy levels, protecting against fatigue, enhancing learning & memory, reducing inflammation, strengthening the immune system, & improving mood.
Eleuthero functions more as an endurance enhancer & para-sympathetic (protective) adaptogen than a sympathetic (stimulatory) adaptogen, increasing endorphin levels in the blood while reducing adrenaline secretion, similar to Schizandra berry.
