Tabebuia impetiginosa is a native Bignoniaceae tree of America, distributed from northern Mexico south to northern Argentina that grows up to 125 feet high, with beautiful pink to violet colored flowers. The inner bark is taken from the tree to make Lapacho tea. It is a well-known species with a long history of human use.
Lapachol, lapachone, and isolapachone, although most herbal practitioners attribute the healing power of the herb to its tannins.

Recommended to be taken as a tea, although tinctures and encapsulations are not unheard of. Lemon juice added to Lapacho tea helps with the absorption of it's healing components. Lapacho is an excellent herb for detoxifying the body and killing off internal bacteria. An example of the powers of Lapacho can be seen from the tree it is harvested from; Tabebuia impetiginosa, which has a tendency to not rot for upwards of 300 years after it has fallen.
