Guarana is an Amazonian shrub like vine that is a popular additive in energy drinks due to it's high caffeine content and stimulant nature. It's story of origin is of a child who was put to death for eating a forbidden nut, at the burial site a guarana bush began to grow from his eye. When ripe, the berries open and look strikingly like an intense human eyeball.

Guarana should be powdered and eaten whole or brewed in tea for the best effects. Guarana is very strong and contains more caffeine than any other herb. Start at 1-2 gram for no-low tolerance, 3-4 grams for medium-high tolerance. The whole seed is very difficult to powder. If you do not have access to strong grinding equipment it is recommended to order the powder.
Guarana is rich in anti-oxidants and contains near 3 times the amount of caffeine than coffee while providing a serving of the heart healthy chemical theobromine.
Guarana is a stimulant similar to coffee yet has a unique profile of action and is much more potent. If you are sensitive to or dislike caffeine then guarana is not for you. It's long term use is not recommended and it is to be avoided while pregnant.
