Rehmannia is one of the 50 fundamental herbs of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is the premier tonic along with He Shou Wu for tonifying Kidney Yin. It is frequently referred to as the 'Food of the Kidneys'.

Slices & powder can be eaten as is & powder can be added to smoothie or added to water. The powder has a taste reminiscent of chocolate, and blends well with cocoa, cordyceps, mucuna, fo-ti, tribulus, ashwagandha, guarana & other nutty/starchy tasting herbs. Rehmannia also makes a great addition to the 'Food of the Gods', 'Mayan Chocolate' or 'Rasayana of the Lion' formulations. Recommended dosage 4-12 grams.
Rehmannia comes in two forms, raw & cooked. The raw form is considered cooler in action and is a much stronger anti-inflammatory agent & is used in cases of hot flashes, stress, & anger. The cooked version is considered warmer and is better suited for reducing anxiety by nourishing the bases upon which our courage, strength, & will derive. Rehmannia nourishes both Kidney Yin and Yang,, however the raw could be said to be better at improving the functions of the emotional & defensive systems, while the cooked could be said to be more in tune with enhancing our physical & expressive natures.
