Introduction
Pyridoxine is an essential vitamin belonging to the B complex family. It cannot be synthesized by the body, so it must be derived from food, where it is found in most all foods, and especially so in pork, turkey, beef, bananas, potatoes, and chickpeas. Deficiencies are rare, but do happen and can lead to a gradual deterioration of one's health. To prevent such issues, cereal grains are often reinforced with additional Pyridoxine, while the vitamin is also commonly taken as a dietary supplement.

Pyridoxine is responsible for energy metabolism and is an important co-factor in the synthesis of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, while a deficiency of can lead to mental dullness, confusion, and a reduction of energy levels.
