Traditionally the nut is grated over food in small amounts. It has also been used as a traditional medicine, to improve quality of sleep or as an aphrodisiac. Recommended dosage 500 mg to 2 grams. Higher doses can cause a potentially dangerous intoxication.

Nutmeg is a very special spice, in fresh whole form much different than what one would find on the shelves of their supermarket. It has actions as an anti-cholinergic (m1/m4/5) which modulates dopamine release, acting as a potent aphrodisiac & also enhances the effects of stimulant herbs. It is an anti-diuretic & astringent, preserving bodily fluids making it invaluable for practitioners of taoist sex magic that stems from ancient semen retention techniques. Nutmeg also has cannabinoid properties in the fat which convey a sense or relaxation & peace. This is one spice that should not be overlooked by the practicing herbalist.

Nutmeg can be toxic in large doses & it is not recommended to abuse this herb, either in the short or long term. It is much better when used in low doses as an admixture to potentiate other herbs.
