Introduction
Terminalia arjuna is the name of a tree whose bark is traditionally used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine to support the heart and circulatory system, even earning the nickname "Guardian of the heart".

Use
Arjuna bark is traditionally boiled with milk, however it can also successfully be brewed with water to make tea. The bark has a sour, acidic taste, owing to its content of plant acids and vitamin c. Arjuna can be used as a health tonic with no issues from overuse.

Summary
Arjuna bark shows much promise in supporting heart and circulatory health. It has profound action on decreasing stress on the heart, improving circulation, and even increases energy output, believed to be secondary to the beneficial effects on the heart. Arjuna also has a calming effect upon the thyroid gland, reducing levels of T3 and T4. Arjuna is protective to other bodily organs as well, including the kidneys, the liver, and the urinary tract.
