Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plant belonging to the Malvaceae family. Hibiscus produces large beautiful flowers that are used in worship, worn in the hair, & are used in herbal teas for their crimson color & tart flavor.

1/2 to 1 teaspoon steeped in tea, powdered & used as a tangy food ingredient, sucked on like candy, & can even be used in hair products.
Hibiscus functions as a mild diuretic & tonic, cleansing the body with its high concentration (30%) of plant acids. Studies have shown that hibiscus tea has the potential to lower blood pressure for pre-hypertensive adults when consumed daily as a cleansing tonic.
It is advised not to consume hibiscus while pregnant, higher doses have emmenagogue potential & may cause an abortion.
