Introduction
Stinging nettle is a plant with an intimate history with humans, used as food, medicine, and fiber. The plant is coated with tiny hollow hairs, also known as trichomes, which serve as hypodermic needles when they come in contact with skin, injecting into the skin histamine, serotonin, acetylcholine, and pro-inflammatory compounds.

Use

Summary
Nettles are commonly consumed as a folk remedy for reducing the intensity of allergies, to support the prostate and men's health, and to reduce inflammation. Nettle has diuretic properties and may reduce blood pressure. The root is more commonly used for men's health, while the leaves are more often used as a nutritive and for general health purposes, namely assisting with inflammation and allergies.
